Cultural Differences

Now the other day  I was at work and I ran into somebody who had some questions about a product…

For some strange reason instead of asking me about the product he started ranting about other cultures and religions-he said some pretty crude stuff about Islamic/Muslims, and Hindus.  I am a Christian, but it does not mean I am going to slash or put down other people for their personal beliefs.
This guy brought up topics about womanising, marriage, the head dresses and so on.  I am going to attempt to expand on what the cultures/religions are actually about.

Islamic/Muslim Beliefs and cultural attributes
                     http://www.religionfacts.com/islam/beliefs.htm || http://www.beliefs-in-islam.com/ || http://www.islamicbulletin.com/

-They believe in one God (Allah, which is simply Arabic for "the (al) God (Ilah)”)
-Muhammad, the founder of Islam, is revered as "the Seal of the Prophets" – He is not divine or worshipped in any way
-According to the Qur'an, Allah "created man from a clot of blood" at the same time he created the jinn from fire. Humans are the greatest of all creatures, created with free will for the purpose of obeying and serving God.
- For a Muslim, the object of life is to live in a way that is pleasing to Allah so that one may gain Paradise.
- Islam teaches the continued existence of the soul and a transformed physical existence after death. There will be a day of judgment and humanity will be divided between the eternal destinations of Paradise and Hell.
- The Qur'an is clear that there must be "no compulsion in religion" (2:256). Yet Islam is not indifferent to conversion either - Muslims consider their religion to be the one true religion, and invite people of all races, nationalities and religions to be part of it.
- Salat is the practice of praying five times a day a times set by Allah. Prayer times are before sunrise, before midday, late afternoon, just after sunset and between sunset and midnight.
- Zarkat is the compulsory giving of a set amount of wealth, cash, gold, silver and commercial items to charity.
- Sawm is fasting during Ramadan. Adult Muslims must not eat or drink anything during daylight hours, nor can they smoke, this includes passive smoking, nor have any type of sexual activity.
- Islam looks at the woman as an equal, mature and capable partner of a man, without whom a family cannot exist and teaches that men and women are all the creation of Allah, existing on a level of equal worth and value.
- In Islam marriage cannot take place unless the female freely agrees to it and a dowry is given to her.
- For both males and females, Islam requires that they wear proper, decent, modest, and clean clothes.
- Muslim women also are instructed by Allah in the Quran to wear as a minimum Hijab (head covering).  At home, with her immediate family a Muslim woman may take her outer garments off, and be free to beautify herself as she wants.

The Islamic and Muslim beliefs are based around respect and equality and not the latter.  Men and Women are both treated as equals and are both respected as equals.  Men and Women both have their roles to play in life like that of any culture and religion.  But unlike our Western culture and beliefs where men and women are promoted to run around half naked, work at strip bars and be prostituted out (which is forbidden in even Christian beliefs), their culture and religion forbids that kind of behaviour.

Hindu Beliefs and cultural attributes
                     http://www.himalayanacademy.com/ || http://mailerindia.com/hindu/veda/index.php?hculture

-Hindus believe in a one, all-pervasive Supreme Being who is both immanent and transcendent, both Creator and Unmanifest Reality
-Hindus believe that the universe undergoes endless cycles of creation, preservation and dissolution.
-Hindus believe in the divinity of the four Vedas.
-Hindus believe in karma, the law of cause and effect by which each individual creates his own destiny by his thoughts, words and deeds.
-Hindus believe that the soul reincarnates, evolving through many births until all karmas have been resolved.
-Hindus believe that divine beings exist in unseen worlds and that temple worship, rituals, sacraments and personal devotionals create a communion with these devas and Gods.
-Hindus believe that an enlightened master, or satguru, is essential to know the Transcendent Absolute, as are personal discipline, good conduct, purification, pilgrimage, self-inquiry, meditation and surrender in God.
-Hindus believe that all life is sacred, to be loved and revered, and therefore practice ahimsa, noninjury, in thought, word and deed.
-Hindus believe that no religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others, but that all genuine paths are facets of God's Light, deserving tolerance and understanding.
-Respect for elders is a keystone of Hindu culture.
-Dakshina is tradition to provide dakshina, a monetary fee or gift to a priest given at the completion of any rite.
-Purity in daily life-the Hindu strives to protect this innate purity by wise living, following the codes of dharma. This includes harnessing the sexual energies, associating with other virtuous Hindu devotees, never using harsh, angered or indecent language, and keeping a clean and healthy physical body.
-In Hindu culture the left hand is considered impure because it is used (with water) in the place of toilet paper for personal hygiene after answering the call of nature. Handing another person anything with the left hand may be considered a subtle insult.
-Hugging and Embracing: Hugging and embracing is found in Hindu culture; but it is restricted to close relatives, Guru/disciples and associates that too in a private place. In Mahabharatha and Ramayana we find this very often. Hugging and Embracing improves pranic energy and this practice is not allowed with strangers.
-Pointing with the forefinger of the right hand or shaking the forefinger in emphasis while talking is never done. This is because the right hand possesses a powerful, aggressive pranic force, and an energy that moves the forces of the world. Pointing the index finger channels that force into a single stream. The harshness of this energy would be severely felt in the nerve system of the recipient. More properly, rather than pointing or shaking the index finger to give direction or emphasize a verbal statement, the entire hand is used as a pointer, with the palm up and the thumb held alongside the forefinger.

Hinduism is a religion/culture of both respect and purity.  The people are not dirty, and are accepting of others.

Most cultures based around religions are filled with respect of others, and are not sexist or racist.  There are people amongst every culture and religion that are extremists, and anarchists.  There are also separatists, extremists, and anarchists in our own culture, nation, and religions.  So by judging those of other cultures and religions and not accepting those people is placing you in a position that makes you a religious, cultural, or political extremist-which makes you what you are judging and despising.

Just a quick note, and some food for thought…  Have a great day!

Worlds Economy

I am not by any means political or financial expert…  But I am also not brain dead.  Anyone who can add ‘one plus one’, or spell “the” can see what I am about to rant on about.

Lately the European market has been the highlight of political and financial news.  This is great because it is one more thing for my family and I to debate and discuss.  Now we all came into agreement that the American President should not be the one going to these other nations with advice or opinion since they have had the world’s largest debt since their founding as an independent nation.

In 1971 their Debt amounted to $75 463 476.52USD (USD meaning American dollars) which amounts to about $5 380 000 000 000.00USD ($5 454 912 556 046.00CAD[CAD meaning Canadian dollars]). Their current debt is about $15 068 108 000.00USD ($15 277 920 357.82CAD) Now that total debt works out to be $174 224.00USD ($176 649.94CAD) per American citizen.

Greece has defaulted a total of 5 times in the past (
1826, 1843, 1860, 1894 and 1932).  In 1832 Greece had received a total loan worth 60 million drachmas (cannot get an accurate representation of today’s value). Today they have a debt of €340 157 000 000 ($465 414 524 228.64CAD) which works out to be about €30 115 ($41 204.38CAD).
Greece is not the only nation in Europe that is facing financial trouble, or even in the world.  But they are currently the focus since they have the highest in Europe.
Now that you have a highlight of the numbers, and a little history-let us get to my opinion.
I don’t believe that a country with such a significant debt, and history of debt (without getting out of debt) should be advising or even have an opinion on another nation’s debt (such as American vs European nations).  With such a large debt and never defaulting due to the fact that other nations have been afraid to speak up, and force them into defaulting in fear of global economic collapse has caused an even larger issue now.  We cannot allow the US to continue to borrow money without causing further economic instability, and by allowing the US to default will also cause other economies to collapse. This is the same with allowing more than one European nation to default.  Because of the European Union and the Euro, if a couple European nation economies collapse the entire Eurozone will feel it.  This would in turn be a global economic crisis since Europe does a lot of trade with other nations including Canada and the US.

Europe’s top trade partners are U.S.A., China, Russia, Switzerland and Japan-With Japan exporting over €74 billion per year to Europe.  As of 2010 our exports with Europe were about 5% of our total, leaving the US with 73% of our total exports.

Now that I have had my little rant… That does not have any structure… Goodbye and Enjoy the information…  My resources were from the News and Internet
